i got fired from my job and i have 2 kids how long do i get to keep my health insurance?
I thought the Health reform made employers keep u on there insurance for 3 months from the date that u were fired or laid off. that is what i heard but i could be totally wrong. I just need to know what i need to do to make sure my kids have health insurance.
It depends on how the employer set it up, but it’s usually either the day after you stop working, or the last day of the month in which you stop working.
BUT. As long as your employer is COBRA eligible, you can stay on their insurance, up to 18 months (longer in a few cases), it’s just that YOU have to pay the full amount. And it’s pricey.
